Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Downtown Dallas, Incorporated is launching a new security plan ahead of the July 4th weekend to cope with an increase in activity.
Albert Sanchez with DDI says the plan includes boosting their Homeless Outreach Team which offers help to people who are living on the streets; "Our first priority is to meet with these individuals, learn about [their] situations and see if we can connect them with resources."
Officials with the group say the July 4th weekend will kick off a surge of new activity downtown.
"Business is opening back up, employees are coming back and we want to ensure that this environment is safe, active, fun and the place that everyone wants to be," said DDI president Kourtny Garrett.
The group is adding new members to its Homeless Outreach Team and hiring more off-duty police officers to help with patrols.
