With so many people moving to North Texas, a new study finds what many drivers already know, Dallas roads are getting more congested.
Transportation analytics company INRIX studied hundreds of cities around the world and found that post-COVID, traffic in Dallas has increased 12% and is the 17th most congested city in the country.
The study's author Bob Pishue says that's not all that bad. "There is a silverlining, yes Dallas ranked 17th, but it's in the top 5 of most populated metros so traffic congestion is much lower than what it is as far as population."
He says that's because Dallas is not afraid to engage in public-private partnerships to build new roads...something almost every other major city is reluctant to do.
The average driver in Dallas lost 38 hours due to congestion in 2023, a six-hour increase from 2022.
