Dallas shelter destroyed by storm, re-opens

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- A family shelter known as Sally's House, run by The Family Place, which was left destroyed by the deadly February storm, is re-opening.

The shelter is for battered women and children across Dallas.

Paige Flink, the CEO of The Family Place says the pipes froze, lights and power went out and over 60% of the 50,000 square foot facility was destroyed, requiring a complete make over

Now, after nearly five months, the 21 year old facility is ready for move-in.

A special dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday afternoon.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson was in attendance.

Dallas police call Sally’s House when they see a family violence.
They report family crimes up 7% since last year.

Move ins are expected Friday.
