Today, it's just a field. But in 18 months, it will be a one-of-a-kind place to play in Texas.

On Monday the Dallas Stars are breaking ground on the new StarCenter Multisport Northlake. The facility will be located on the eastbound side of 114 at Chadwick Parkway, just a few blocks east of I-35W.

Dallas Stars president and CEO Brad Alberts doesn't just envision a rink of ice, but a community where diverse sports converge under one massive roof.

"It's the first of its kind here in the state of Texas," Alberts says.

The new sports complex which will house dual ice rinks like other StarCenters in the region. But the Northlake facility will also house multiple volleyball and basketball courts, plus outdoor pickleball courts.

"We're really excited to get into the Fort Worth community for hockey and the other sports and to continue to provide top tier facilities for all the men and women, boys and girls that needed it here in the metroplex," Alberts said.

The location of the new center is strategic, positioned in an area experiencing a surge in both residential and commercial growth. Roanoke, Argyle, Trophy Club, Haslet, Keller, North Fort Worth and Justin are all within a 15 minute drive of the new complex.

"We didn't have a facility in Fort Worth, and it's been one of those things that we've talked about for years," Alberts explained about the choice of location.

He also praised the officials of Northlake, emphasizing their crucial role and shared vision in the partnership.

Diversifying into other sports is not just a step, but a leap for the Dallas Stars organization, now a major stakeholder in Texas Advantage Volleyball (TAV), the largest girls volleyball club in the state.

"Over 500 girls are playing at TAV right now here in the DFW area...and because of our scaling ability...we found this to be a great growth engine," Alberts noted.

Alberts said construction is slated to take about 18 months, putting completion sometime in the Fall of 2025.
