As of late July 2025, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport hasn’t officially reached 100°F yet - a rarity this late into summer. According to the National Weather Service, the region usually hits that milestone by July 1, but this year’s scorcher is running well behind schedule.

The highest temperature recorded so far is 99°F, narrowly missing the century mark - despite forecasts repeatedly predicting triple-digit heat earlier this month.

In most years, 20 or more days exceed 100°F, but in 2025, that number currently sits at zero.

Since 1991, the average first 100-degree day has fallen on July 1. Recent years ranged from early June to late July - 2022 saw its first 100°F day on June 11, 2023 on June 25, and 2024 on June 23.

Though some summers like 2021 stayed mild with only eight total 100° days, in record-breaking years like 1980, DFW logged 42 straight days over 100°F, reaching an all‑time high of 113°F in late June.

Meteorologists caution that while a late start often suggests a less intense summer, it’s not guaranteed. Heat dome conditions shifting west could still push us into triple-digit territory soon - weather models currently predict the first official 100°F day is just days away.
