The city of Dallas is hosting a series of public meetings this week to gather community input on next year’s city budget.

City leaders describe these "listening sessions" as an opportunity for city council members to hear directly from residents about their budget priorities. The meetings will be held at various locations across the city throughout the week.

The first sessions are scheduled for Monday night at the Johnson Recreation Center and the Kleberg Rylie Recreation Center, with additional meetings planned each evening through Thursday.

City Manager Kim Tolbert is expected to present her proposed budget in August, with the new fiscal year beginning on Oct. 1.
