The Dallas Veterans Day parade has been canceled because of concerns about today's weather.
The forecast for today calls for rain and falling temperatures through the day. This is the second year in a row the Dallas event has been called off because of weather.
However, other Veterans Day events for this weekend are still on
The Plano East Rotary Club observes Veterans Day with its annual display of more than 1,000 American flags honoring a veteran or first responder, continuing through Saturday, the actual Veterans Day. Everyone is invited to walk through the field of flags during daylight hours, take photos, and reflect on the service of those who have served in uniform
Friday at 10 a.m. The North Richland Hills Police & Fire Honor Guard will present the national colors before a wreath-laying ceremony, patriotic music, and readings in front of City Hall.
The Tarrant County Veterans Day parade is on Saturday beginning at 11 am. The theme this year is "Saluting TCU Warriors" in honor of the university's military legacy as TCU celebrates its 150th anniversary.
Other North Texas celebrations honoring those who've worn our national uniforms include:
McKinney's traditional Veterans Memorial Park ceremony at 11am
Frisco's parade and community service beginning at 10 am on Mainstreet in downtown Frisco
And in Grand Prairie, Saturday morning at 9:30, it's a patriotic ceremony at Veterans Park Event Center followed by a free lunch courtesy of the Rotary Clubs of Grand Prairie.
