The Dallas Zoo has named Lisa New, the longtime leader of Zoo Knoxville, as its next CEO. In doing so, she became the first woman to hold the title in the Dallas Zoo’s 135-year history.

This comes after the 16-year tenure of Gregg Hudson, who died in April after a battle with cancer. He was 64.

New promises better conservation, education, guest experience and sustainable funding. But the board say they hired New to inspire their staff to another level. She will start January 15 of next year.
