Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has won the GOP nomination to run for reelection after taking 75 percent of the vote.
There will a run-off on the Democrat side where the top two finishers are Mike Collier and state Rep. Michelle Beckley.
The 2018 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, Collier, led state Rep. Beckley and former vice-chair of the Texas Democratic Party Carla Brailey, in both polls. Collier is a former CFO at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
In Texas, if no candidate receives at least 50.1% of the vote, the race goes to a runoff between the top two finishers.
