Former Congressman Colin Allred is not giving an opinion on who he wants to run against if he gets the democratic nomination in the 2026 Senate race.
Early polling suggests Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has a decent lead over Senator John Cornyn who has held the senate seat since 2002.
"I'm not sure that it matters, I think that they've obviously got a fight on their hands over there," Allred said during an interview with KRLD. "They're focused on fighting each other. Not on speaking to Texans or helping Texans."
When Allred announced his candidacy, Paxton welcomed him to the race by saying Texans already rejected Allred's liberal values. That was a reference to Allred's loss to Senator Ted Cruz in the 2024 senate race.
Early polling suggests that Allred would have a better chance at winning if Paxton becomes the republican nominee.
