They are doctors, and they want to be pushed up higher on the list to get the covid 19 vaccine.
Physicians and nurses who may treat covid patients are first in line to get the coveted shots, but where are the dentists? Dr. Matt Roberts, a dentist from Crockett is also the chairman of the Texas Dental Association's council on legislative and regulator affairs. He says they are asking "to be in that second group. What time will that occur and when will the vaccines be available? Don't know and haven't heard. But that's where we're advocating to be is just in that very next level of tiered workers to get the vaccine."
According to the state, frontline workers who are at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 due to the nature of their work are second.. Roberts says they screen patients and wear PPE but can't be 100 percent sure if a patient has the virus. "We are around other individuals who move about the community, and we do work in a close proximity to the oral cavity where the virus can reside. It's good for us to be in that frontline of people who are vaccinated. So that's what we are hoping for."
