The council will discuss the Denton Responsible Reformation of Cannabis Enforcement Act, an ordinance that calls for a ban on all arrests for misdemeanor marijuana possession, except if it is part of a violent felony.

Currently simple marijuana possession results in a ticket or maybe a trip to jail in Denton. Some people in Denton have been fighting to change the law for years.

Denton city council member Deb Armintor supports the ordinance and will try and sell it to the rest of the council when it meets later today.
