Denton County flu rate below the norm

Officials say flu season looks a little different this year in Denton County.

In Denton County, flu season isn’t hitting as hard this year as it has in the past. County Chief Epidemiologist Juan Rodriguez says the testing positivity rate is way down as is the number of reported flu deaths.

And that’s not the only good news on the virus front: Health officials say Omicron is on its way out of Denton County. Three weeks ago the testing positivity rate was at the county’s pandemic high of 36 percent. This week, that number is down to 20 percent.

Across all ages and in all categories health officials say the numbers are falling.
