Denton County Public Health has 8,100 doses of the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine, but it won't administer them until the middle of next week.
County Health Director Dr. Matt Richardson says there's a reason for that: Health officials want to avoid second doses being due over Thanksgiving.
"We're going to time it," Dr. Richardson says. "We begin next week, which means they'll come back for their second dose the week after Thanksgiving and they'll be fully protected for the Christmas holidays."
In order for a kid to get the shot, they need to bring some form of ID and be accompanied by a parent. Registration is open to get the vaccine at one of several pediatric-only clinics.
