A Denton County man has drowned while fishing over the holiday weekend.
Just before 6 p.m. Sunday officials say the 9-1-1 calls came in sending first responders to a small community pond near Tanner Parkway and Dahlia Way near the Lantana Golf Club.
They were told a man had fallen in and did not surface. The body was recovered about an hour later.
Investigators say Lantana resident David Scherer was fishing in the pond just a mile or so from his home. They don't yet know why he fell in.
