Health officials in Denton County say they're preparing for a COVID booster shot boom. They're planning to give boosters to thousands of people in the coming weeks.
Denton County Health officials say they've already given a couple thousand booster shots, but that number is about to climb exponentially.
"It's really going to ramp up," says County Health Director Dr. Matt Richardson. "Were going to Little Elm ISD, their athletic complex, and then we will be at C.H. Collins in a couple of weeks, at the athletic complex. Both for drive-through booster clinics. You can get a third dose and you can get a first and second dose."
If you're already in Denton County's system, Richardson says you can expect a call, text or email letting you know once you're eligible for a booster. Appointments can also be made online.
And there's some more good news in Denton County, fewer people are testing positive for COVID-19 and hospital capacity is drastically improving.
