Denton removes 'interim' tag, approves Robledo as new police chief

The city of Denton made it official on Thursday, removing the "interim" title from the woman who has led its police department for the last five months.

Jessica Robledo officially steps into the role after a unanimous decision by city officials.

City Manager Sara Hernandez praised Robledo for her strong leadership and extensive experience, noting her ability to foster important relationships within the department. Robledo brings over 35 years of law enforcement experience to the position, including 16 years in executive and supervisory roles. She previously served as assistant chief of police with the Austin Police Department and as chief of police in Pflugerville.

Community members are invited to meet Robledo and other officers at the inaugural Denton Police Chief’s Run, scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday morning.
