The DeSoto City Council has named three finalists for the position of City Manager. Residents will have the opportunity to meet all three at DeSoto City Hall on Thursday.
Brandon Wright left the position of City Manager in DeSoto last year for a job in Trophy Club. DeSoto hired a search firm to identify and recruit candidates for the job. Two of the three finalists have connections to north Texas.
Majed Al-Ghafry is currently an Assistant City Manager for Dallas. He is also the city's Chief Economic Development Officer and has worked for the City of Dallas since 2017. He previously worked in San Antonio and in El Cajon, California.
Joseph L. Lessard was most recently the City Manager in Ashland, Oregon. He left that position last year. He was an Assistant City Manager in Austin for nine years. In the 1980's, he was an employee of the City of Dallas.
Cheryl Harrison-Lee currently owns a consulting firm in Kansas City. She is also an advisor to an economic development district. She has been a city manager in Gardner, Kansas and was a deputy city manager in Daytona Beach, Florida.
DeSoto will hold a "Community Meet and Greet" on Thursday, April 18th at 5:30m at City Hall. Residents will be able to ask questions of the three finalists in-person and can view the event on the City of DeSoto's website and Facebook page.
“We are excited to welcome our three City Manager finalists to City Hall on Thursday evening, and are inviting residents to stop by or tune in so that they can meet them,” said DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor.
