A north Texas company is one of several businesses stepping up to help the DeSoto ISD after the school district's supply of personal protective equipment was destroyed in a warehouse fire last month.
Dallas-based Medcillary has donated nearly 50,000 KN95 masks to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 when students return to in-person learning in October.
"We're wanting to get people back in school as quickly as possible and restore some level of normalcy, and so we thought that by providing nearly 50,000 masks we'd be able to help them meet their needs and maybe even exceed their needs," said Medcillary CEO Jon Boski. "Being that we are in the health care space, it was a natural opportunity for us to help a school district in need."
The DeSoto ISD has also gotten help from Baylor Scott & White's Faith in Action Initiatives, SSC Services for Education, PepWear, Atmos Energy and several other businesses and non-profit groups. Boski hopes that trend continues.
"We want everyone to step up and stop the spread," Boski said. "The reality is that we are all in this together. I think here are a lot of opportunities that other local businesses can step up to help foster normalcy."
