Students in one North Texas school district must now turn their webcams on when attending school online.
Starting today, the DeSoto ISD is requiring all students attending school virtually to turn their webcams on.
The district says doing so will increase student engagement and improve student achievement.
Some students had been leaving their cameras off over concerns about what could appear in the background.
The district says the online video conference program Zoom has a vast array of virtual backgrounds available, including DeSoto ISD's official virtual background.
