DESOTO (1080 KRLD)- KRLD has learned someone brought a gun onto the campus at DeSoto High School Thursday afternoon.
The district says the man was not a student, but was let in a side door by actual students. The man, who was involved in altercation with students, had a pistol in his waistband but never brandished it, DeSoto ISD says. Students tipped off security and the man was ultimately arrested.
Friday, DeSoto ISD announced it would forgo the use of backpacks for the last two weeks of the school year -- that means no backpacks starting on Monday.
The district will also go to clear backpacks only next year.
