A new large-scale development is planned along the northern edge of the Denton after a real estate group closed on thousands of acres near Lake Ray Roberts, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Old Prosper Partners has purchased about 2,500 acres near the lake in Denton County, the newspaper reported, marking one of the latest mega-developments proposed in one of North Texas’ fastest-growing regions.
Plans for the project call for a master-planned community with housing for tens of thousands of residents, along with significant commercial development and what would be among the largest planned park spaces in the region.
The proposed community adds to a growing list of billion-dollar, master-planned developments underway across Denton County, where rapid population growth and continued demand for housing have driven large land acquisitions and long-term development projects.
Denton County has been among the fastest-growing counties in the state in recent years, fueled by expansion from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and new residential and commercial investment along major transportation corridors.
