The holiday travel season is in full swing, and officials at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport say they expect 4.7 million passengers to pass through the airport from Dec. 20 to Jan. 7.

Friday is projected to be the busiest travel day of the season with an estimated 265,000 people moving through DFW Airport. Vehicle traffic is also expected to be heavy around the airport.

Even with careful preparation, like packing light, arriving early, and planning ahead, travelers can still face unexpected disruptions.

Brian and Terrell experienced that firsthand Friday morning when their flight to Hawaii was rescheduled.

Airport officials recommend that travelers monitor flight updates closely, allow extra time for security lines, and remain patient as they navigate the busiest travel period of the year.
