Just about every state in the southern part of the United States has their own brand of barbeque. While the changes to the cuisine are subtle, each state argues their version is the best. Of course, Texas is no different, but luckily a new study may have helped the Lone Star state take the prize for the top barbeque state in the country.
Real estate and investing website Clever recently conducted a study to find which state in the country is the best for barbeque. Looking at factors such as the regional price per pound of barbecue meat, how many barbeque competitions the state holds, the number of American Royal Barbecue Hall of Fame members from the state and more, they were able to determine the top 15 barbeque cities in the country. According to Dallas Morning News, DFW ranked 12th on the list.
Texas was well represented throughout the list, with San Antonio and Austin taking the top two spots. Some other cities making the cut were Nashville, Kansas City and Memphis. With multiple cities in the top 15, Texas is officially the best barbeque state in the country.
