Hotel rooms in the DFW area are going fast as people prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime event happening in April.
A total solar eclipse is expected on April 8, 2024. Its trajectory can be viewed in Texas. It's visible in San Antonio, Austin, Waco, and, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the path of the eclipse, Dallas-Fort Worth.
The demand in the DFW area is driving hotel room rates up. Some are up as high as 390%. If you're interested you better book soon. Dallas hotels are already 43% booked.
Travel experts confirm Airbnb rates are up as well. Many are averaging $139 or more a night than the same time last year.
If you miss the April eclipse, you'll have to wait until 2317 to see another one in DFW.
