FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD)- A Fort Worth family is building a legacy working at the same place for close to 30 years. They're this week's KRLD Difference Makers.
If you hear laughing or see a smiling, waving and talking to everyone at Texas Health Fort Worth, you might have run into one of the Mayfield brothers.
"If I don't know your name, I know your face," said Derone Mayfield. an audio visual technician at Texas Health Fort Worth.
As the oldest, Derone brought his brother Derick in to work at Texas Health and later, their youngest brother Kevin also joined the operation.
Derone is the oldest. He's been at Texas Health for 27 years. His brother Derick is an electronic communication technician. He's been at Texas Health Fort Worth for 25 years. Their baby brother Kevin, who is the Parking operation manager, has been there for 22 years. For these Fort Worth natives, it's a family affair.
"Everybody is just like a big family over here. It's like our second home," Derone said.
Collectively, the Mayfields have been working in the same place for almost 75 years. They say they love what they do and they're not going anywhere.
"We like the challenges we face on a day-to-day basis," Derone said. "Most times we do things even if it's not our job. We just jump in and help where need be."
Kevin agreed and added, "You're helping people too. The end goal is to help the community."
They know the hospital campus like no one else because of their dedication, loyalty and passion for helping people. The brothers are always in good spirits and laughing and smiling.
We're proud to call the Mayfields this week's krld difference makers.
"A smiling face and a helping hand can go a long way," Kevin said.
