A Duncanville apartment building was completely destroyed in a two-alarm fire Sunday afternoon, officials say.
The blaze started around 2 p.m. at Redbird Village, a complex on Link Drive near Interstate 20 and Duncanville Road, fire officials said. The complex is located on the next block from a Duncanville firehouse, so the response was almost immediate. But even so, the fire had a head start, and winds gusting up close to 30 mph whipped up the flames.
Fire crews contained the fire to one 16-unit building in the multi-building complex, however, all 16 apartments were destroyed. About 40 people were displaced and the Red Cross was called in to help them.
No injuries were reported and there's no word yet on the cause.
