Mesquite Police say a wreck along I-20 Wednesday morning may have been caused by a drunk driver. The wreck shut down the eastbound lanes of I-20 near FM 740 just before 2 a.m.

Police say a car blew a tire. The driver pulled to the shoulder, but as the people inside tried to change the tire, police say another car hit them "at a high rate of speed."

Mesquite Police say four people died in the wreck; three others were hurt. The conditions of the injured were not available Wednesday morning.

Police arrested the driver who hit the car and say that person will be charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter.

Eastbound 20 was closed at FM 740 for hours Wednesday morning as Mesquite Police investigated.
