A Duncanville man faces a potential life prison term after he's indicted for kidnapping and trying to sexually assault a young girl.
Mesquite police say 53-year Doyle Tipton was driving when he spotted a pre-teen girl. Back in June, Mesquite police lieutenant Michael Kelly told us the girl was running away from home.
Kelly says Tipton, a registered sex offender, would not let the girl out of the van, then he tried to fondle her. She jumped out of the van when it stopped at an intersection. The victim ran to a nearby fire station and police were called. Investigators began canvasing the area and found the van.
A Dallas County grand jury has indicted Tipton on a charge of aggravated kidnapping-sexual abuse. It's a class one felony that carries a penalty range of five years to life with the possibility of parole. Tipton is being held on $350,000 bond.
