
Today is the first day for early voting in the municipal elections set for May 6. This is the election where voters choose their city council and school board members.
In Fort Worth, this will be the first election in which there will be ten city council members elected instead of eight.
Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker is also up for re-election, as she vies for a second term. Dallas mayor Eric Johnson is running unopposed for a second term.
Many voters will also be deciding the fate of bond packages, including one in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD worth more than $716 million.
Voters in Arlington will decide on a $278 million dollar bond for street and park improvements and a new fire and police substation, according to NBC 5.
