Sky-high egg prices had been trending downward for the past few months -- but have been rising again because of Easter seasonal demand.
Texas A&M AgriLife expert David Anderson keeps an eye on these things and says the Consumer Price Index report on retail egg prices shows a drop from $4.82 a dozen to about $4.21 in January, February and early March.
But USDA numbers show wholesale egg prices have been making their annual climb leading up to Easter, which is this Sunday.
Anderson believes consumers should expect egg prices to fall after the Easter demand subsides.
Supply and demand trends should fuel lower egg prices plus it's expected that chicken feed prices should start to decline, lowering producers' costs.
