Elderly man's death due to crash, but he was also bit by a dog

Turns out, a McLennan County man died from a crash not from a gunshot as police first suspected. And, it furthers turns out the wound on his neck was not from a bullet all all, but from a dog.

The autopsy results have come back from the May 5th death of a 70-year-old Hewitt man whose body was found in his crashed SUV.

Police found a pistol near Leon Peyson's body and there was a wound on his neck that looked like a gunshot. But the autopsy shows it was a bite from one of the three dogs that were in the SUV when it crashed.

Two of the dogs escaped but the third was trapped with Peyson.

Investigators believe the neck bite may have been the result of the dog trying to wake him up.
