Students involved in Ellis County crash that injured five, killed one

One person is dead and five others were hurt in a crash Saturday afternoon in Ellis County that reportedly involved several students.

In a statement the Waxahachie School district said they have learned multiple students were involved in a car accident Saturday afternoon, asking for prayer for the young people involved in the accident, as well as their families, friends, and teachers.

State troopers said the driver lost control going around a curve along Shoreside Trail near Shepherd's Hill Road. The driver was killed. Five passengers in the vehicle were seriously injured and taken to hospitals.

The driver was identified by the Waxahachie Daily light as a 16-year-old Global High School student named Titiana Errisuriz.

The five injured students are a 15-year-old, two other 16-year-olds, and two 17-year-olds.

Classes in Waxahachie don't begin until Thursday but Global High School says crisis counselors will be available on campus today until 4 p.m. for any students who need to talk.
