A Marine Corps veteran from Ellis County is suing the makers of the online game Roblox, claiming he was groomed and sexually abused by a predator he met on the platform when he was just 11 years old.

The lawsuit, filed this week, says the man - now an adult - first connected with the predator through Roblox in 2007. According to court documents, he was lured into a relationship that led to years of abuse.

Attorneys argue the company prioritizes profits over child safety, pointing to Roblox’s popularity among children and its history of predators using the platform to reach minors. The suit alleges Roblox failed to implement adequate safeguards to protect young players despite warnings and past incidents.

The veteran, who asked not to be publicly named, is seeking damages and accountability. His case joins a wave of lawsuits nationwide accusing online platforms of turning a blind eye to child exploitation.

Roblox has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit.
