As early voting wraps up in Texas, U.S. Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-Waxahachie) is vying for a third term in the state's 6th Congressional District. The district includes small parts of Irving, Grand Prairie, and Arlington before it opens up to the south in Waxahachie, Hillsboro, Palestine, and Jacksonville.

Ellzey is an advocate for Second Amendment rights and anti-abortion policies.

"Service is in my blood, I love this country, and this is my opportunity to continue to serve after 20 years in the Navy and then six years as a veteran's commissioner on the Texas Veteran's Commission," Ellzey said.

His opponent is Democrat John Love III. Love has focused his campaign on expanding healthcare access for women and implementing universal background checks for gun purchases.

I've always been a part of this community," Love said. "My mom was born in Navarro County. Her ancestors were in Galveston, Texas for hearing the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865."

Early voting in Texas ends on Friday. Election Day is Tuesday.
