Emergency warming centers opening across North Texas

While we wait for the freezing rain and ice, the cold weather has already arrived and warming centers have opened all across North Texas.

In Dallas, warming centers are being set up at the Carr Collins Social Service Center and the Austin Street Shelter. You can also visit any of the City of Dallas public facilities, including libraries and recreation centers available during regular business hours.

In Fort Worth, there's a warming center open at the Mabee Social Service Center at 1855 Lancaster Ave. The city of Fort Worth is opening up an overnight shelter for residents without power 24/7 through noon Thursday. You will need to self-transport to the Fort Worth Convention Center and enter through the Houston Street entrance. The location is 1201 Houston St.

North Tri-Ethnic Community Center 2950 Roosevelt Ave

In Arlington, the Arlington Life Shelter is serving as a warming center at 325 West Division St.

In Denton, people can escape the cold at Our Daily Bread at 909 N. Loop 288.

The Salvation Army is opening up warming centers in Garland, Arlington, McKinney, Plano, Denton and Lewisville.
