End of Texas mask mandate could bring new challenges as some businesses prefer to keep it

Texas Governor Greg Abbott's executive order requiring Texans to wear masks in public places will vanish next week, but that is not the end of the story for employers across the state.

Private companies, including retailers, are allowed to set their own rules.


Kroger and Target are among those who say they still will require customers, employees and vendors to mask-up in their stores.

Then there is the potential issue for employers who may be met with resistance from their workers. And, how should businesses handle customers who refuse to wear a mask in their establishments?

Michael Correll is a labor and employment partner with the Reed Smith firm in Dallas. He talked about the applicable laws - and best practices for companies - with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
