Ennis ISD students are out of school for a third straight day due to a boil water notice. The notice was issued over the weekend after seven water mains broke because of cold temperatures.
Water pressure has returned, city officials say, but the boil water notice must remain in effect until Ennis gets lab results back that confirm the water is safe to drink.
The city issued the notice for households with running water, instructing residents to boil water for at least one minute to ensure harmful bacteria are killed.
Businesses have adjusted with bottled drinks and disposable supplies, while residents continue to navigate the challenges from the disruption.
The city said it is safe to shower, but said to not swallow the water.
