ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc) is expecting an increase in demand for electricity this week as temperatures across Texas rise into the upper 80s.

The group that manages the Texas electric grid, ERCOT is asking power plants to postpone any planned shut-downs for maintenance that were scheduled between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening.

Operators are hoping the move will help reinforce the grid and avoid a power emergency.
