
ERCOT is now asking all Texans to voluntarily reduce electricity use because of extreme temperatures, forecast high demand, and lower reserves.
Officials with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas are asking for the conservation of electricity from 3-8 p.m., when demand is the greatest.
The Voluntary Conservation Notice is part of ERCOT’s advisory system, alerting the public of grid conditions.
Last week, ERCOT extended the Weather Watch through August 18.
ERCOT stresses there are no emergency conditions right now. Voluntary conservation is just a tool that they are using to help prevent outages.
