About the only good news in all this heat and humidity is this, the Texas power grid is running in the green.
ERCOT says we have enough electricity right now. This morning the ERCOT dashboard shows a sizable gap between electricity demand and capacity.
This is a good thing. Of course, as the day wears on and temps swell into the upper 90s and triple digits in most of Texas, the demand will go higher as we all crank up the AC.
ERCOT is also tracking the fuel source for power plants, solar, coal, wind, natural gas, and hydro for example.
Yesterday, a lot of natural gas and coal plants were off-line for one reason or another -- mostly maintenance issues. But, since there was barely a cloud anywhere in Texas, the solar plants were going full speed head and the power grid was able to keep up, even during the worst of the heat Tuesday afternoon.
