The 2025 State Fair of Texas is now open at Dallas' Fair Park with some new security policies in place.

This year features a Clear Bag policy but there are exceptions. Medical bags, parenting bags, and soft-shell coolers will be permitted after proper inspection. The clear bags need to be 9 inches X 10 inches X 12 inches.

Most days the fair will open at 10:00am and close at 9:00pm with the exception of Saturdays when the fair is open until 10:00pm. No admission is allowed after 9:00pm.

In years past, some Fair guests have been allowed on the property prior to the 10:00am opening on some days but that is no longer the case. Guests will no longer be allowed to enter the fairgrounds before 10:00am.

The weapons ban remains in place. A judge tossed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's challenge to the ban and legislation did not make it out of the Texas Legislature this year. Security officials have said that comparing the fair to other major crowded events such as a concert or football game where weapons are banned, it just makes sense. The weapons ban went into effect following a shooting at the Food Court at the State Fair of Texas two years ago.

There is a new "See Something, Say Something" procedure at the Fair this year involving numerous QR codes that are on signs spread throughout the fairgrounds. Scanning those codes will put anyone in direct contact with the on-site Command Center to report anything suspicious. That includes anything from a suspicious person to an overflowing trash can.

The Minors Policy will remain in place. No minors will be allowed on the property after 5:00pm without a guardian who is 21-years-old or older.

For those wanting to avoid getting caught in traffic, fair goers are encouraged to ride DART Rail. The Green Line has a stop at the front gate of the State Fair of Texas.

Reminder that coupons have gone up in price over the years and this year one coupon costs $1.

The State Fair of Texas opened Friday, September 26th and runs until Sunday, October 19th.
