Extra counselors have been assigned to help students in the Italy school district today, the first day of class since three of the district's students were fatally stabbed Friday afternoon.
Italy ISD Superintendent Rachel Kistner says her district has contacted the Richardson-based Region 10 Education Service Center which supplies school district support services across North Texas. She also says additional counseling staff will be available at school for the students and at Italy's Central Baptist Church at 10:30 AM for families and community members.
On Friday, the five children of the suspect Shamaiya Dyonshana Hall were found stabbed at an Italy home. Three of the children including a six year old boy and five year old twins were dead. Two others, a four year old boy and a 13 month old girl were seriously wounded. One was taken to Dallas Children's Hospital and one was rushed to Cook Children's in Fort Worth.
Hall is jailed in Ellis County on three counts of capital murder.
School districts across North Texas are urging students, teachers and staff to dress today in black-and-gold, the colors of the Italy school district.
