The Dallas City Council has approved a contract with a restoration company to repair damage from February's winter storm at the Hall of State at Fair Park.
The extended period of temperatures below freezing in February caused significant damage. The pipes for the sprinkler systems in the attic froze and burst, flooding the building.
The contract with Phoenix Restoration and Construction, Ltd. is for $2,770,979.91.
"The building is covered by insurance and will be covered for this event," said City of Dallas Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Reich. "The deductible for the city is $750,000. We will be filing a claim for all of the damages to city facilities and paying that deductible."
The Hall of State is one of 23 facilities at Fair Park that were damaged during the winter storm. Several other city facilities, including the Dallas Zoo, were also damaged during the storm.
