Family and friends of three people who were killed by a suspected drunk driver on Sunday in Seagoville are raising money for the victims' relatives. Police say a man started going the wrong way on Highway 175 in Crandall at about 1 a.m. on Sunday.

They started tracking him as he went west in the eastbound lanes. Crandall Police say officers were shining their spotlights at him, but he continued until hitting another car head-on in Seagoville.

The crash killed three people in the other car. Friends say the victims were a woman, her daughter, and her grandson. They say the daughter was pregnant.

"Please don't drink and drive, this guy took the lives of three innocent people and he survived. Also, the lady who passed away was our worker. Rest in glory Anita," Noel Garcia, who said he worked with one of the women killed, wrote on Facebook.

"My first thought is the family," says Mothers Against Drunk Driving's Emma Dugas. "Overall, it's so sad and a 100% preventable crime. We just hope to educate the community to help prevent this from happening."

Dugas said the emergence of ride-share services has added to a list of options people have to avoid driving drunk.

"There are just so many different options you can fall back on even if you didn't plan ahead of time, which we encourage the public to always do. Always plan ahead and have that non-drinking driver in place before you go out," Dugas said.

Friday, the GoFundMe campaign had raised $3,880 with a goal of $30,000. Details are available here.

"I ask you if it is in your hearts to help with a little bit," the organizer, Dennis Pena, wrote on the page. He said he was the pregnant victim's sister.
