Anthony Ramos told his wife she should try the company's curly fries. The two Floridians were in the drive-through of a Jack-in-the-Box near Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, back in March of 2021, and ordered meals.

The fries were supposed to be in the bag, but they weren't. Mr. Ramos asked for them and was refused.

The video shows employee Alonniea Ford throwing ice and packets of ketchup at Ramos. She then pulls a gun out of her back pocket and shoots. Ramos sped off as soon as she showed the weapon.

A bullet nicked the back of his SUV. His daughter, in the back seat, wasn't hurt and neither was his pregnant wife who was riding up front.

Ford would plead guilty to a misdemeanor of deadly conduct and spend six days in jail before serving a year of probation. The family's attorney, Randall Callinan, said the company didn't do their due diligence, and that she never should have been hired to begin with due to a previous crime.

"Don't you do any review of a person before you let them interact with customers?" Callinan said. "This is a terroristic threat that she pled guilty to."

The family is suing Jack-in-the-Box and A3H Food, the franchisee, for gross negligence, negligence, and negligent hiring. A3H operates over 15 franchises in Texas and Oklahoma. They are suing Ford for assault and battery and more, including emotional distress.

The lawsuit seeks up to a million dollars.
