The official ground breaking is today in Farmers Branch where a long-awaited new park comes a step closer to completion.
Called "Joya at Oran Good Park", it's billed as a glow-in-the-dark playground that will redefine playtime experiences.
In April, the city received an update from the National Park Service about a timeline for a federal grant to help pay for the project. The city estimated that construction would kick off in late June or early July so today's ground-breaking seems to be on target.
The park will be an 18,000 square foot expanse of state-of-the-art playground equipment. By night, thousands of colourful LED lights will illuminate the park with glow-seating, a Spin Zone, an obstacle course and a zip line.
The construction site is at the southeast corner of Oran Good Park, near Tom Field Road and Valley View. Today's ground-breaking begins at 10 a.m.
