Victims of a massive Fort Worth apartment complex fire last month are now eligible for federal disaster assistance.

Governor Greg Abbott had made the request earlier this week from the U. S. Small Business Administration for federal help and that request has since been approved.

People who suffered damage and lost property in the six-alarm fire along West Rosedale Street can request low-interest loans through sba.gov/disaster.

The Small Business Administration granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

About 800 people were affected by the blaze.

Several people were also treated for heat exhaustion.
