Federal grants will allow DFW Airport to receive flights from several small regional airports that have lost service in the past couple of years.
The airlines have cut service for any of several reasons, mainly due to a pilot shortage following the arrival of the Coronavirus.
But the U.S. Department of Transportation is allocating about $3.65 million to five airports, one each in Minnesota, West Virginia, Washington, Mississippi and Montana. They will all have routes to and from DFW Airport.
Four of the airports will be served by American Airlines or its regional subsidiaries while Southern Express Airways will operate between DFW and Natchez, Mississippi.
