The felony trial for a Texsa State representative from Collin County is expected to be delayed again so he can attend the latest special session of the state legislature.
State Rep. Frederick Frazier of McKinney is a Dallas police officer and former McKinney City Council member. He was placed on administrative leave in June 2022 after he was indicted on two counts of impersonating a public servant, a third-degree felony.
The incident that led to the charges related to a campaign sign incident during the 2022 Republican primary. Frazier has asked for and has been granted a continuance not once, but twice, due to special sessions called by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
The trial is currently scheduled to begin on November 6. But Governor Abbott is planning to call a third special session that starts Oct. 9th.
Frazier is expected to seek another continuance which would delay the trial until even later in the year. It’s possible the March 2024 primaries will be over before any evidence in his case sees the light of day.
